#1) Safety 1st of Georgia offers a 6-hour Defensive Driving/Driver Improvement Program that is certified by the Georgia Department of Driver’s Services (DDS) and the National Safety Council.  Located in Stockbridge, Henry County and servicing McDonough, Ellenwood, Rex, Hampton, Locust Grove, Jonesboro, Morrow, Griffin and Metro Atlanta.

Students taking our Defensive Driving class learn accident avoidance behavior and safe driving practices.  Drivers who take the Defensive Driving course can significantly reduce the number of collisions and citations they experience.  The 6-hour Defensive Driving Program recaps the basic rules of the road and covers many important Georgia highway laws.   The 6-hour Defensive Driving class is often required by traffic courts, and routinely used for the following:

Fine Reduction
The 6-hour Defensive Driving Program can be taken for a 20% reduction of the traffic fine and may result in the court not adding points to your record.

Insurance Discounts
Individuals may take the 6-hour Defensive Driving Program to receive a 10% -15% discount on their auto insurance premium. The insurance discount percentage is determined by your insurance company.

Learning to Drive
Provide additional assistance to new or inexperienced drivers.

License Suspension
If your license has been suspended, you must complete the 6-hour Defensive Driving Program before your license is reinstated.

License Suspension under 18 years old
You must complete the 6-hour Defensive Driving Program before your license will be reinstated, if you are under 18 years of age and are sited for 1 or more tickets that accumulate 4 or more points on your license in a 12 month period.

License Suspension under 21 years old
The 6-hour Defensive Driving Program must be completed before your license will be reinstated, if you are under 21 years of age and are sited for one ticket that accumulates 4 or more points on your license in a 12 month period.

Points Reduction
Individuals may complete the 6-hour Defensive Driving Program once every 5 years to remove up to 7 points from your record to prevent your license from being revoked.

Ticket Dismissal
Often, courts in Georgia dismiss a ticket for a traffic violation if the offender completes the 6-hour Defensive Driving Program prior to going to Court. If dismissed, there will be no points placed on your driving record and your insurance will not increase.

Safety 1st of Georgia offers both weekday and weekend schedules for you to attend the Defensive Driving Class.  Upon successful completion of the course, each student will receive a certificate at the end of class.

The costs for court ordered Defensive Driving requirements are $95.00, which is set by law.  You may register online or in person for the Defensive Driving class.  Students must be on time for class and attend the session in its entirety to receive a certificate of completion.  Failure to do so will forfeit any fees paid for the class.  Please note that we can accept cash, money order, debit card or credit card.
